Emulsifier for Tempering Oils,

Abstract

The title product was prepared from polyethylated alkylphenols (I) and rape oil. I contained 70-90 percent monoalkylphenols and 10-30 percent dialkylphenols; the alkyl groups were C(subscript 8) or C (subscript 9) and the degree of polyethoxylation was 6. The emulsifier contained 88-95 percent I. Thus, 342 kg. I and 18 kg rape oil were mixed at 50-60 degrees and 160 kg of the mixture was added to 3200 kg oil (viscosity 3.5 degrees E at 50 degrees). The oil was suitable for the tempering of ball bearings and roller bearings.
