Coupling of Monochromatic Waves in an Elastohydrodynamic Model,

Abstract

The study of certain magnetohydrodynamic problems necessitates the construction of models that permit following the plasma phenomena more easily. Such a model is proposed. In a rectangular receptacle there is a liquid in which very thin rubber bands are arranged to give it elastic qualities. This provides the elastohydrodynamics to study this system. The way a disturbance is propagated in such a liquid models the transmission of the Alfven wave and of the slow and rapid elastohydrodynamic waves in a plasma. In the propagation of weak elastohydrodynamic waves in an incompressible medium is studied and the same question in the case of compressible media. In this article, the authors propose to study the coupling of elastohydrodynamic waves. (Author)
