The Characteristics of Durability of Turbine Blades,

Abstract

A theoretical and experimental study of the durability and fatigue behavior of turbine blades, both brand new and with various service times is given. A blade fatigue diagram is plotted from statistical test results for a large number of blades, assuming that the blade durability distribution follows a log normal law. The residual durability and its distribution are used as a basis for estimating the efficiency of used blades. The fatigue characteristics of a group of blades operated on a test stand for 20, 200, 500, 1000, 2300, 3200, and 4200 hr are discussed specifically. (Author)
