The Hydrophone Response of a Transducer.

Abstract

Equations are derived for the variation with frequency of the voltage output from a hydrophone exposed to a constant acoustic pressure field. These equations include the effects of a tuning inductor and resistor in parallel with the hydrophone. The variation of the phase of the output voltage relative to the applied pressure is also calculated. Examples of particular cases are considered, and some illustrative curves presented. A method of estimating the absolute value of the hydrophone sensitivity is also described.
