A Note on the Transient Behavior of Some Difference Schemes that Approximate the Navier-Stokes Equations.

Abstract

The one-dimensional, viscous, piston driven flow is used to study numerically the transient behavior of some difference schemes which approximate the Navier-Stokes equations only in the steady state. The case presented shows a 5% error in the shock location. (Author)
