Compressor Sensitivity to Transient and Distorted Transient Flows. Volume II. Mathematical Details and Computer Programs.

Abstract

The report is the second volume of a report describing the results of an analytical investigation of compressor sensitivity, conducted under Contract No. N00019-69-C-0602 for the Department of the Navy, Naval Air Systems Command. The objectives of the investigation were to develop an analytical model which simulates compressor response to spatial and temporal flow disturbances; to establish by application of the model the importance of various flow mechanisms, and their relationship to design variables, in determining compressor response; and to establish some design trends by means of a limited parametric study. This volume contains the detailed mathematical development of the models and the theoretical background of the equations that were utilized; the results of the studies are described in general terms in Volume 1.
