A Study of Laser Resonators and Mode-Locking.

Abstract

The first part of the report represents a theoretical study of confocal resonators. The second part consists of a study of mode-locking and techniques that use mode-locked lasers. The report is intended to present a detailed analysis of a confocal resonator in order to illustrate the applicability of the method of analysis for further investigation of resonators for mode-locked lasers. Also the potential of mode-locked lasers for use in a high-bit rate communications system is investigated. (Author)
