Thermally Stable Organometallic Polymers: A Progress Report,

Abstract

The need for thermally stable polymers capable of maintaining good mechanical properties in the vicinity of 1000 F to be used as coatings, insulators, and adhesives for Army missiles has prompted an attempt to prepare highly metalated polymers containing ferrocene, carborane, and silicon. Eight metal-containing polymers have been prepared, three of which have theoretical metal contents of greater than fifty percent. This exploratory synthetic phase of the program and the beginning of developmental synthetic studies. (Author-PL)
