Hybrid Computer Study of a Free Piston Engine with a Hydraulic Pump.

Abstract

A hybrid computer simulation of a hydraulic pumping engine, consisting of a free piston engine coupled pneumatically to a hydraulic pump, is developed and described. The simulation is used to investigate the operation and performance of the engine and its properties, to develop the engine to an optimum configuration, and to predict the effects of various design assumptions on engine performance.
