Forecasting Tools for the Inventory Manager.

Abstract

The art of choosing a procedure for making routine prognostications requires that an analyst be familiar with the broad spectrum of available analytical techniques. In addition, he should be familiar with the trade offs encountered in applying the algorithms. This paper presents essential factors for a meaningful forecast including available algorithms and the coefficient smoothing approach, and discusses utilization of the various methods. The summary provides the analyst or business manager with a working manual which includes adequate references for further study. (Author)
