Optimal Vendor Selection with a Total Capacity Requirement,

Abstract

The problem of selecting vendors in such a way that the total cost is minimized subject to satisfying minimal production requirements is considered. A further restriction requiring that the vendors selected by an optimal policy have a total production capability exceeding a given amount is imposed. The problem is interpreted as a combinatorial problem and a search and elimination procedure for its solution is presented. (Author)
