Ecology of a Tropical Delta Forest Environment. VI. Quantitative Analysis of the Ecological Distribution of a Tropical Herpetofauna.

Abstract

The ecological distribution of each of 62 species of frogs, salamanders, and lizards was determined by means of continuous sampling throughout the environment from mid-January to the end of July, 1969, two weeks in April 1970, and June-July, 1970. Each species exhibits a characteristic distribution, according to its genetic, morphological, and physiological make-up, its life cycle, its way of relating to the physical environment, and its interactions with other species.
