Prediction of Ballistic Missile Trajectories

Abstract

A critical problem in a missile defense system is that of predicting the trajectory and impact point for a ballistic reentry vehicle. This memorandum will describe methods of prediction as well as numerical results for several representative examples. There are several reports describing the estimation of the states of a ballistic missile; the ballistic trajectory and impact point will be predicted by using these estimated values.
