Large Screen Plasma Display.

Abstract

A program to determine the feasibility and practicality of applying capacitively-coupled plasma display technology to large-screen group displays is described. The display screen would be composed of modules. A 2 in. x 51 in. prototype module was designed and constructed. In the design, a multitude of rectangular glass tubes, running the full module length, are laminated to base electrodes. Upper electrodes are bonded to the array of tubes. Tubes are connected into a common manifold. Uniform electrical characteristics are observed, even at the edges of the module. A 20 x 20 matrix tester was constructed. (Author)
