Research in Approximation Theory with Applications to Simulations of Complex Systems.

Abstract

The report summarizes the scientific activity under the subject grant by presenting abstracts of the manuscripts produced therein. The titles discussed include the following: On the existence of extremal projections; Minimal projections on hyperplanes in sequence spaces; Minimal projections with prescribed carriers; Existence subspaces in approximation theory; On the construction of a class of smoothing splines in several variables; On the construction of a class of generalized interpolating splines in one variable; A generalization of the construction method of Laurent and Carasso for interpolating L-splines; Generalized smoothing spline functions for operators; Multidimensional spline approximation methods.
