Contributions to a Better Understanding of Communication through Natural Languages.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to arrive at a better understanding of communication through natural languages on the basis of a philosophy of language and communication that attempted to synthesize the conceptions of logical empiricism, British linguistic philosophy, cybernetics and M.I.T.-type linguistic theory. In particular, it was hoped to arrive, on this basis, at a better conception of the pragmatics of natural languages. The major achievement consisted in a better understanding of the problems posed by the essentially pragmatic character of natural languages rather than in their solution. (Author)
