Photochemistry of Nitramines. II. Stoichiometry, Intermediates and Products.

Abstract

The investigation was concerned with the photochemical decomposition of nitramines, particularly N-nitropyrrolidine and N, N-dinitropiperazine. Photolyses were carried out in solution and in the solid state. Intermediates were identified by spectroscopic studies and by synthesis. On the basis of the intermediates, products, and spectrocopy of products, a mechanism for the photochemical decomposition of N-nitropyrrolidine was postulated. (Author)
