Abstract
Averaged evoked responses to auditory stimuli of different locations in auditory space or having different 'melodic' patterns were recorded from the separate hemispheres of the brains of normal and hemispherectomized subjects. The normal subjects were also used to produce right hemisphere versus left hemisphere records. These records demonstrate that the shape of the interhemispheric response is a function of stimulus conditions. Hemispherectomized subjects cannot, of course, produce these latter records, but the responses of two subjects, recorded from the single intact hemisphers, are qualitatively similar to those from normals. One feature, a possibly unique negative wave, appeared in certain records of the subject having only a left hemisphere. (Author)
