Digital Address Thin Display Tube.

Abstract

The report describes the progress to develop a 32 x 52-resolution-element, digital address, thin display tube for a man-pack radar. During this quarter the low-power driving circuitry was completed, and the first 32 x 52-element display unit was completed and tested. In addition, further work was accomplished on minimizing the cathode power consumption. The performance of the display unit was very good. Brightness and contrast were 100 foot-lamberts and 10:1 respectively. The only area in which achieved performance did not meet or equal the objectives was in total power consumption; power input for the tested display was 2.8 watts, as compared to the objective of 1 watt.
