Grading Hardwood Lumber by Computer.

Abstract

The computer program described in the report is part of a system being developed to automate the decision-making process in a sawmill. The function of this program is to simulate the grading of hardwood lumber according to the rules established by the National Hardwood Lumber Association. The grading program is being used as an evaluation tool to optimize lumber values at the edger and trimmer in a hardwood sawmill. The programming language used is 3600 Fortran. Processing was done on a Control Data Corporation 3600 computer. (Author)
