Influence of Gamma Irradiation on the Electric Conductivity and Disaccommodation of Nickel-Zinc Ferrite,

Abstract

Inasmuch as earlier investigations have established an analogy in the behavior of magnetic and electric properties of ferrites in a gamma-radiation field, the authors have carried out a comprehensive study of these properties in one and the same sample (ferrite S-1000). The sample was irradiated with the cobalt K-60000 gamma source of the Physicochemical Institute im. L. Ya. Karpov at an intensity of 360 R/sec. Measurements were made of the temperature dependence of the electric conductivity, of the magnetic losses, and of the disaccommodation in the range from room temperature to that of liquid nitrogen. The measurement procedures are described.
