Determination of the Thermal Conductivity of Metals and Alloys by the Method of Electrical Heating of Fine Homogeneous Rods Taking Heat Losses into Account,

Abstract

A new direction is being suggested for the measurement of the heat capacity of metals and alloys in samples in the form of thin rods with constant cross section over their entire length, heated by the indirect passage of an electric current through them, with consideration of heat losses into the surrounding medium. Calculation formulas are given for the determination of the heat capacity in cases of heating and cooling in any kind of medium and in a vacuum. (Author)
