An Isoperimetric Problem for Entire Functions,

Abstract

An isoperimetric problem arising in optimum antenna and circuit design is examined. It consists in maximizing a functional, subject to certain constraints, over the class of square integrable exponential functions of a given type. It is shown that the solutions of the corresponding Euler-Lagrange equation form a complete set of functions whose properties generalize those of the prolate a spheroidal wave functions. (Author)
