Comparison of Blood Collected by Vacuum Methods and Gravity Flow.
Abstract
Ninety-eight donors participated in the study. The difference between times for gravity and vacuum methods of collection was significant. The number of reactions was lower in the vacuum method, but the probability did not exceed random chance. Similarly, the time within groups was significantly different but the incidence of reaction was random. The study suggests that the time of donation is not a contributing factor to donor reactions. Although vacuum collection times were faster, an average difference of 2 minutes represented little practical value. (Author)
