Abstract
The document is the program description of the SAFER Code, Version O, Mode O. It describes the operation, data management, diagnostic interpretation and recovery, and modification of the program. Operations of the program define the loading of the deck and its execution. The program is loaded in segments and each operation (e.g., baseline, fail-safe, vulnerability, and redesign) executed independently. Program policies of data management and storage allocation are presented. The data flow between core and storage devices is described. Data allocation is discussed for each operation. Program diagnostics provides information describing progress of program calculations and indications of any abnormal conditions arising during the process of the analysis. Procedures are given for recovery and restarting the problem after an error has occurred. Information is provided for making program modifications. Those areas which may be modified include input checking limits, problem size, and program constants for the vulnerability and redesign operations. (Author)
