Predicting the Durability of Polymer Coatings (R Voprosu o Proghozirovanii Dolgovechnosti Polimernykh Pokrytii),

Abstract

An attempt was made in this work to establish a quantitative criterion for forecasting the durability of coatings under full-scale conditions on the basis of accelerated test results. The conversion factor K between accelerated and full-scale tests is defined. The relation between durability and the protective properties of many groups of paints and varnishes during tests under full-scale conditions and by accelerated methods is given. It is shown that the durability of paint and varnish coatings determined by means of the relations derived herein coincides with the experimentally determined durability. (Author)
