Abstract

Estimates of the costs of buildings, salaries, the radiation source (cobalt-60) etc. show that a method of irradiation of meat products is economically feasible. Transportation of irradiated meat products is more economical than transporting cattle (for a distance of more than 100 kilometers) or refrigerated meat (for a distance of more than 700 kilometers).
