Infra-Red Absorption Spectra of n-Paraffins and alpha-Olefins in Liquid and Crystalline States,

Abstract

Long-chained molecules are the transitional link between low-molecular compounds and macro-molecular polymers. Hence a detailed study of them must promote a deeper understanding of physical processes in polymers. In the report the infra-red absorption spectra of long-chained molecules of n-paraffins and alpha-olefins in liquid and crystalline states were investigated at various temperatures (-150C to + 130C). The compounds include 1-heptene, 1-octene, 1-nonene, 1-tridecene, n-heptane, n-octane, n-nonane, and n-tridecane. (Author)
