Analysis of Cracks in Wide Orthotropic Plate with Longitudinal Stiffeners.

Abstract

Recently, the Howland-Isida approach to cracks in isotropic strips was extended by Lakshmikantham to the case of an orthotropic strip with edge stiffeners. The present report uses his techniques in solving the problem of a tensioned wide plate with parallel stringers and stress free cracks in alternate panels. The results of this problem together with the previous study are expected to cover many cases of aircraft structural importance; especially where fiber-reinforced composites are used. (Author)
