Some Recent Experimental Investigations in Stress-Wave Propagation and Fracture.

Abstract

This paper outlines work done in the field of stress wave propagation. Included are studies on; the formation of shock fronts in tensile pulses propagated along filaments of natural rubber which have been prestretched quasi-statically, pulses generated when a brittle solid fractures, and secondary pulse generation characteristics when a stress pulse approaches a boundary between two media.
