A Study of Optical Transition Probabilities in Solids and Methods of Modulating Them.

Abstract

The report summarizes the results of an investigation to select rules and intensities of spectral lines in solids and ways of controlling them. This led to an investigation of both odd and even components of crystalline field, and of crystal excitations such as phonons and magnons which can alter the transitions of ions. (Author)
