An Investigation of Scattered Reflections at Magnetic Conjugate Points,

Abstract

A short survey of theories relating the dynamics of the magnetosphere with the formation of an inhomogeneous electron density in the ionospheric F region is given. Attention is given to diurnal variations in the frequency of occurrence and the intensity of F-layer scattering in magnetically conjugate points. Emphasis is placed on the latitudinal behavior of the phenomenon. The variations in the parameters characterizing the irregular ionospheric structure are shown to be related in magnetically conjugate points at low geomagnetic latitudes; no evident relation exists at higher latitudes.
