Diurnal Variations of the Electron Density Fluctuation in the Ionosphere of the Northern Hemisphere,

Abstract

The paper makes an attempt to connect the appearance of the so-called F-scatter with large-scale fluctuations of the electron density in the F region of the ionosphere. The analysis of data obtained at several ionospheric stations made it possible to construct for the Northern Hemisphere a 'map' of global variations of the P-index, which is proportional to the fluctuations of the electron density. Characteristic zones of fluctuations for magnetically quiet and magnetically disturbed days are revealed. (Author)
