Education in Conflict and Crisis for National Security,

Abstract

The author discusses the question of how a wide variety of educational and training programs might be undertaken that will permit a continuing conversion to be made from an expertise concentrated only on the tools and techniques of organized violence to an expertise that includes the management of social conflict and crisis problems. The author advocates an increase in education and training efforts in these fields to the point of approximate parity with the effort now being given to engineering and technological matters in the various courses in the service academies and the war colleges.
