Equilibrium in the Ideal Adsorbed Layer during Multistage Adsorption (Ravnovesie v Idealnom Adsorbirovannom Sloe pri Multipletnoi Adsorbtsii),

Abstract

Studies have been made of the equilibrium in the ideal adsorbed layer during the adsorption of materials whose molecules can occupy one or m elementary spaces. It is shown that the isotherms of any adsorbed species in the mixture can be readily determined if the isotherm for one of the adsorbed substances is known, and the molecules of this adsorbed substance occupy m elementary spaces of the surface in the absence of any other adsorbed substances. The form of the isotherm for multistage adsorption depends on the distribution of elementary spaces on the surface. (Author)
