Plan for Navy Logistics Information System Test Node.

Abstract

The report contains a plan for the development of a test node of logistics data for the Navy Logistics Information System (NAVLIS). The plan, which will be used by the Concept Development Test Node, recommends an evolutionary approach in two phases. Phase 1 will test data-sharing concepts and procedures in a simulated non-real-time test operating in parallel with existing management information systems. Phase 2 will test these same concepts using real inputs, and operating in real time. A product approach using aircraft engines is planned for tests of Naval Air Systems Command logistics information. A functional approach is planned for the Naval Ship Systems Command logistics information. Selected portions of specific logistics information systems have been designated for test analysis.
