Low Temperature Inflation of Inflatable Liferafts for Merchant Vessels.

Abstract

Measurement of the Time-To-Inflate performance to two 15-person inflatable liferafts at temperatures of 28, 15, 0, -22, and -27 degrees Fahrenheit. One raft employed a conventional carbon dioxide inflation system and the other a compressed-air aspirator system with an ambient air inlet. The two rafts, identical in size and shape, were of the type used as lifesaving equipment on merchant vessels. (Author)
