The Acquired Enamel Pellicle of Human Teeth.

Abstract

The literature concerning the chemical composition and physical properties of the acquired organic integuments (pellicle) of human enamel was reviewed and the findings summarized. The source, mode of formation, and function of the acquired pellicle are discussed, including the various theories which have been proposed and the questions which still remain unanswered. (Author)
