A Test Method for the Evaluation of Current and Experimental Tropical Weapon Lubricants.

Abstract

An Accelerated Tropical Test (ATT) was developed as an exploratory screening test for the evaluation of current and experimental lubricants for use in a tropical environment. With the use of the ATT, significant corrosive conditions were simulated in which any small-arms weapon may be subjected to adverse tropical environment. The comparative evaluation of several conventional and experimental preservative weapons lubricants by the ATT indicated that two experimental products, VG110 and VG115, were superior to other products evaluated.
