500 KV Dischargers,

Abstract

The article deals with 500 kilovolt discharges, but especially magnetic-gate discharges. It brings to light some information about the development and research of new spark gap designs, in which the arc of an accompanying current is extinguished (suppressed) with the help of a magnetic field. The article also covers such topics as: permissible voltage in a discharger from the overheating conditions of shunting resistors; the greatest permissible voltage suppression voltage in a discharge during atmospheric surges and switching surges; the pulse breakdown voltage of a discharger; remaining voltage; the transmission ability of resistor plates and spark gaps.
