Resistance of Plastics to Outdoor Weathering. Glass Filament Wound Epoxies.

Abstract

This report presents results on the aging and natural weathering of filament-wound, glass-reinforced epoxy resin systems for use as engineering materials for Army rocket motor cases. Specimens (cylinders 9 inches long and 3 inches in diameter, using either E or S glass with various resin systems) WERE EXPOSED AT Panama for one, three, and five years. Additional specimens were stored in the dark at 73 F and 50% RH for one, three, and five years. Testing was accomplished by means of a uniaxial hydrostatic burst tester. (Author, modified-PL)
