Interferometer Positions of Eighteen OH Emission Sources,

Abstract

The two-element interferometer of the Owens Valley Radio Observatory was used to measure the positions of thirteen sources in the 1612 MHz line of OH. Five sources are associated with infrared emitters (IRC+10011, IRC+50137, Orion A, VX Sgr, and R Aql). The OH positions agree with the infrared or optical positions to within the errors of measurement (from plus or minus 5 to plus or minus arc seconds). Eight other sources that have similar OH spectra but have no detected infrared radiation were also measured. These new positions will make a search for the associated infrared objects more practical. In addition, positions were found for five main-line sources of interest. The OH source near NGC 2438 was found not to coincide with the planetary nebula. The new position for W75 (N) lies near a weak continuum source. (Author)
