A Study of the ARPA network Design and Performance,

Abstract

The document reports on the results of a study on the design and performance of the ARPA Network. Two important objectives of the study were to evaluate the ability of the network to handle heavy traffic loads and to increase the understanding of the relation among the number of packet buffers, the design of the system, and the system's performance. As one result of the study, several improved system algorithms for handling traffic were developed. (Author)
