The Effects of Meso-Scale and Small-Scale Interactions on Global Climate

Abstract

The present study was undertaken in an effort to improve numerical models for meso-scale and small-scale effects which influence global weather and its modification. Two major areas are being studied: the effects of mountain ranges on energy and momentum transfer, and the transient interactions of solar radiation with the earth's atmosphere. It is hoped that the results of these studies will lead to calculationally inexpensive prescriptions which can be incorporated into meso-scale and global-scale atmospheric circulation codes.
