The Fine Structure of the Solar Chromosphere.

Abstract

The solar chromosphere at the limb and also on the disk is studied with the purpose of ascertaining its fine structure and the relation between the spicules and the dark and bright fine mottles on the disk. High resolution time-lapse photography of the sun are made using a 150 mm Coude' refractor in conjunction with the 1/2 Angstrom band-width Zeiss H-alpha filter set at different positions on the profile of the line. Good data of the chromosphere at the limb at different wavelength settings and also on the disk at plus or minus 0.75 Angstrom from the line center are obtained. The data contain information on the fine structures at the solar limb and also about the time development of the dark and bright fine mottles at plus or minus 0.75 Angstrom from the line center. Reduction of the data is in progress. (Author)
