Investigation of Ground Shock Effects in Nonlinear Hysteretic Media. Report 5. Computer Code Computations and Comparison with Theoretical Solutions - Variable Moduli Material.

Abstract

This report is the fifth in a series concerning the development and evaluation of variable moduli material models and their application to ground shock calculations for soil type media. This report presents a comparison of the numerical results obtained with the axisymmetric LAYER code and the plane strain code for the plane strain theoretical solutions of Ref. (8). In each case, the same variable moduli material model was prescribed for the half-space. It is seen that the analytical and numerical results agree quite well, Thus indicating that the material models in the codes are performing correctly. (Author)
