A Discussion of the Fourier Transform Properties of Lenses.

Abstract

This study establishes the analogy between the optical lens systems, using monochromatic coherent light, and the electrical filter. The body of the report discusses some possible uses of different configurations of the lens system in electronic data processing. The appendix gives the mathematical manipulations proving that a lens performs a Fourier transform. Several configurations of the lens system are discussed. (Author)
