Studies on the Analysis of Thyroid Hormones by Gas Chromatography.

Abstract

Commercial standard preparations of the thyroid hormones, triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4), along with their precursors monoiodotyrosine and diiodotyrosine, were converted to dipivalyl methyl ester and trimethylsilyl derivatives for gas chromatographic analysis. Various liquid phases, inert supports, and column lengths were evaluated for chromatography of these derivatives. Utilizing a hydrogen flame ionization detector, the authors reproducibly analyzed 2 micrograms of T3 and T4. (Author)
