The Microstructure Formulation of the Effective Stiffness Theory for Laminated Media.

Abstract

The derivation of the effective stiffness or microstructure theory for a laminated medium is developed and the relationship of the resul-tant theory to the effective modulus or transversely isotropic elastic theory is shown. Approximations involved in the original assumptions are carefully considered and the applicable range of both theories is discussed. (Author-PL)
