Statistical Model Calculation of Neutron Radiative Capture Cross Sections for 54Fe, 58Fe,

Abstract

The (n, gamma) cross sections for neutrons on 54Fe and 58Fe have been calculated for neutron energies from 1 Kev to approximately 5 Mev. The calculation is performed using a statistical model with a theoretical final state level density at energies above the known levels. As a check on the parameters used in this level density function, the cross section for the well-measured reaction 54Fe (n, p) 54Mn was calculated, with very satisfactory results. (Author)
